RFBC SOCIETY CORE COMMITMENTS: MISSION, VISION, AND VALUES
Last updated 25 July 2026

Mission Statement

The RFBC Society exists to sustain and deepen Radical Faerie community in British Columbia by supporting faerie gatherings, circles, rituals, mutual aid, and community-led initiatives rooted in queer liberation, authentic self-expression, consent, care, acceptance, inclusivity, subject-subject consciousness, and connection with one another and the living world. We do this by stewarding shared resources and nurturing accessible spaces where Radical Faeries can gather, belong, create, heal, play, share, and imagine liberated futures together. In doing so, we aim to stay connected to the worldwide Radical Faerie community, a loosely affiliated network that has many definitions and dimensions, and that continues to evolve since its origins in the countercultural movements of the 1970s.

Vision Statement

The vision of the RFBC Society is of a strong and enduring community of Radical Faeries throughout British Columbia that is accessible, diverse, and meets the needs of its members for authentic connection and mutual support. To achieve this, in line with our mission, we commit to being responsible stewards of our values, collective knowledge, and material resources, so that we can continue to nourish containers and facilitate connections that support our community, and the goals it envisions for itself.

Values Statement

The values of the RFBC Society can best be expressed in terms of the “Five C’s”:

COMMUNITY – we support spaces and experiences where Faeries can belong, participate, contribute, and be held in relation with one another, while engaging with the world around us. We commit to showing up as our most authentic selves, to witness, and be witnessed. This process can be messy and non-linear, but the reward is a deep sense of belonging and acceptance.

CONSENT – we check in, clarify, and confirm before committing to engage. This is a call to really listen to each other, to practise subject-subject consciousness, to respect each other’s boundaries, choices, body, time, energy, and capacity, and to not act from a place of selfishness and ego. Consent is the foundation of trust, safety, and self-expression, with mutual respect and care holding us together.

CARE – we care deeply for ourselves, each other, our community, and the earth. We act mindfully, asking ourselves and others what is needed in every situation. Care takes various forms and includes mutual respect, curiosity, and attention to and accountability for the impact of our actions.

CURIOSITY – we acknowledge that not everything is as it first seems, and we observe, listen, and inquire to find out what is really going on, within ourselves and with others. We meet ourselves, one another, and the unknown with openness, care, humility, playfulness, and a willingness to learn. We invite creativity, support experimentation, nurture growth, and welcome new forms of Faerie expression.

CONFIDENTIALITY – we hold one another’s stories, identities, and shared experiences with trust and respect. Confidentiality is not secrecy for its own sake; instead, it means fostering confidence by trusting each other and holding each other’s vulnerabilities with the deepest care and compassion. This allows us to show up as our authentic selves, open our hearts, and share our truths with a sense of ease and safety.
